Emma Stone Cast for The Gangster Squad
Emma Stone (Easy A, Zombieland) has just been added to the cast of Ruben Fleischer’s take on the hunt for the infamous
gangster Mickey Cohen ‘The Gangster Squad‘. Stone is the latest addition to the cast since Giovanni Ribisi (Avatar)
was reported to have signed up for the project the early part of July. She will also star opposite Ryan Gosling (Blue
Valentine), Sean Penn (The Tree of Life), Josh Brolin (No Country for Old Men), Anthony Mackie (The Adjustment
Bureau), Michael Peña (Shooter), and Holt McCallany (Fight Club).
She’ll be reunited with Fleischer who she worked with on previous movie Zombieland for Gangster Squad which is set to begin filming later this year, with a release tentatively scheduled for 2013. The movie is based on the LAPD’s fight to keep Cohen’s (Sean Penn) criminal empire from rapidly expanding. Set in 40s and 50s American gangster era, the movie sounds promising.
Stone will next be seen in The Help, Friends With Benefits and Crazy Stupid Love, and yes, as Gwen Stacy in the much
anticipated The Amazing Spider Man which is already in post production and due to be realeased July 2012.
