Trailer for ‘Ruby Sparks’ Shows Us Twee Romance and Dogs in Glasses
‘Ruby Sparks’ is a grown up trendy-nerd version of Weird Science. A writer imagines his own perfect woman, writes her down and in lo and behold she comes to life. Co-directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris, the husband and wife team who directed Little Miss Sunshine, Ruby Sparks is a romantic comedy starring Actress and Writer Zoe Kazan.
Calvin (Paul Dano) is a young novelist who achieved success early in his career but is now struggling with his writing – as well as his romantic life. Finally, he makes a breakthrough and creates a character named Ruby who inspires him. When Calvin finds Ruby (Zoe Kazan), in the flesh, sitting on his couch about a week later, he is completely flabbergasted that his words have now turned into a living, breathing person.
The cast includes Antonio Banderas, Annette Bening, Steve Coogan, Elliott Gould, Chris Messina and Deborah Ann Woll.
Ruby Sparks is slated to hit theaters on July 25th.
