The JM Internet has an annual marketing scholarship and essay contest. The company is announcing this year’s scholarship recipient, Rachel Jacobson.

The JM Internet Group, a leader in online internet marketing training, is excited to announce the winner of the 2017-2018 marketing scholarship, Rachel Jacobson. Ms. Jacobson composed the winning essay on the “New Media” and is now attending Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

“Each year we try to encourage young people to explore the New Media and the New Marketing via this essay and marketing scholarship contest,” explained Jason McDonald, Director of the JM Internet Group. “We were very impressed with Ms. Jacobson’s essay and with the strength of her application; consequently, we awarded the scholarship to her.”

Ms. Jacobson said, “From the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank the JM Internet Group for awarding me the New Media Scholarship this year. This fall, I plan on studying at Drexel University in the Westphal College of Media Arts and Design, with a concentration in Animation and Visual Effects. My goals include learning the most recent technology used in marketing and entertainment, and how to apply those techniques to the industry at large. I am quite thankful to the JM Internet Group for their support.”

Here is an excerpt from Ms. Jacobson’s winning essay:

“This pushback against traditional marketing on such a large scale is unprecedented. Before the Internet and social media, the same tactics of paper and post advertising and polling could be used decade after decade, only changing targets every couple years to account for demographics. With such a shift, it also affects how marketing is taught in universities and colleges. How should they adapt to the changing attitudes of consumers towards advertisements and polls on the Internet? I believe that the best way to teach marketing in the current industry is to focus on flexibility and adaptability.”
